Next to them in the center of the picture four men of African and mixed origin dressed in dark colored suits. They stand next to a housewall. On the right an entrance. A woman of probably European origin stands in the entrance. She is only seen from the backside. The group probably stands under a porch. Written on the card board: P. Theile." Cf. photo no. 9430. -- Gustav Theodor Tietzen (1893-1973) was born in Berthelsdorf near Herrnhut and worked as a missionary in Elim and Moravian Hill (Cape Town) from 1922 to 1927 and in East Africa from 1927 to 1939. He later returned to South Africa West to work as a missionary from 1959 to 1960 before he went back to Germany.
