Bust-length portrait.
1990-1650.
Harvey Harkness was born in Massachusetts in 1821. Came overland to California in 1849, settling first in Bidwell's Bar, where practiced medicine. Moved to Sacramento in 1850. Served as president of the local Board of Education, as president of the California Academy of Sciences. Upon retirement, pursued interest in Pacific Coast fungi, publishing articles and books on subject. Died in 1901.
