Text written under photo: "Market St Portola Celebration 1913 Looking east on Market Street from 12th St." The view actually looks east from Van Ness. The vantage point is on the north side of Market and shows the parade moving westward below, with spectators on the ground and on the rooftops. The Grand Central Hotel is a short distance away at the left.
