Description
Hutchinson was from an African American family on the East Side of San Jose ("Eastside"). Her interview touches on the changes in that neighborhood from the early 20th to mid-20th century, going to Pala School, early Eastside businesses. Hutchinson's parents were Henry and Laura Ribbs; Henry operated a plumbing business on Alum Rock Avenue. Ribbs Avenue was named after their family. The interview was conducted in early 1991.
