Shades of L.A. is an archive of photographs representing the contemporary and historic diversity of families in Los Angeles. Images were chosen from family albums and include daily life, social organizations, work, personal and holiday celebrations, and migration and immigration activities. Title supplied by cataloger.; Image is a reproduction. Sevim Canli was born in Turkey on September 23, 1934. She studied at Üsküdar American Academy. She married Vasif Canli in 1959, after he received a master’s degree in civil engineering from Stanford. Yasif’s job in offshore oil and gas projects took them to Europe, Northern California, New Orleans, and finally to Orange County, CA, where they settled in Mission Viejo.
