Description
Shown here is a grip wheel, 9 feet in diameter, and other parts of the machinery called winding machinery located at the Echo Mountain station. They were used to pull the cable cars up and down the Incline portion of the Mount Lowe railway. It was designed by Andrew Smith Hallidie, and worked throughout its 44 year history without accident.
