Photograph of a view of Redondo Beach looking towards the city from the pier, 1891. People stroll along the boards on the pier at left, to the side of which railcar tracks can be seen. Two pile drivers stand tall to either side of the pier. Pedestrians and a horse-drawn carriage navigate the unpaved roads through the city in the distance. Several commercial shop fronts advertise themselves along the shore. A domed building is visible in the distance to the left. The ocean is visible to the right, along with the building for the Santa Fe Route of streetcars, one of which is pictured in front. Legible signs include: "Field's Restaurant", "J. Murphy Saloon. / Wines and Liquors", "The Pavilion / Wines Liquors Cigars", "Ship Channelry / Groceries. Hardwares. Paints-Oils. / Gents Furnishing [...] / Bathing Suits. Boots and Shoes.
