Photograph of men working in an unidentified oil refinery, ca.1940. Two men in work clothes, hats, and gloves lean over machinery at the end of a long, darkly-colored pipe at center. One man manipulates the apparatus from the right while the other holds a rope attached to a pulley on the left. A small, wooden broom on the right leans against the lightly-colored wall behind the men which is stained with oil splatter. Thick rope hangs in a bundle from an oil-stained, metal beam on the left while a lightly-colored metal slab leans into the foreground from the right.
