Photograph of a Jamaican 'Buggy' in Montego Bay. The carriage is drawn by a single horse and is pictured sitting outside a stone house. The Jamaican Buggy or horse drawn carriage would have been the traditional mode of transport for missionaries prior to the car. The buggy was light and could be used when travelling up steep hills but could also be a dangerous way to travel and missionary records record cases of fatalities in such vehicles.
