A wooden pier juts out into the water from the shore at center, and a small steam ship is approaching the dock from left. Several small boats are beached on the sandy shore at left. A collection of two-story buildings can be seen on near the water at left, while the three-story Hotel Metropole is at right. Tall hills run across the image in the background.
