Description
Photograph caption dated February 21, 1963 reads "In America to learn." Mala is from Indonesia, living for a year in Culver City to attend high school there. She was upset about the suspension of the exchange program by the Indonesian government. Officials felt the Indonesian students were becoming 'too Americanized.'"
