Description
In this 1945 photograph, Bode and Bode Locksmith's clever slogan - ""Keys That Fit"" - adorns a sign on the side of the business at 1401 J Street. To the right of Bode and Bode are the Gil Culver Studio, the Hotel Rene, and Ralph Jones Used Cars. To the left of the photograph is Ray's Car Market at 913 Fourteenth Street. By the 1960s, Pacific Telephone and Telegraph and Pacific Bell Company had taken up this entire block to accommodate an operating center.
