In the MacNeil-Lehrer News Hour entitled “Upward Bound,” Peter F. Drucker discusses his stance on motivational training programs in the work place. Leaders of the programs say they increase productivity at work by conquering the worker’s fears and gaining self-confidence. Drucker disagrees, and says companies are wasting their money on motivational training. The program cites specific examples of motivational training in companies such as NASA, Nike, General Motors, and Ore-Ida Foods. Drucker describes that there is no correlation between motivation and performance. He ends the interview by saying that mandatory motivational training programs are an infringement on employee rights. The video begins with the report in progress.
