Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Mission San Gabriel, taken by artist and photographer Edward Vischer, before 1875. The building of the mission is constructed as a large wall supported by connected pillars, featuring an arched doorway. Stairs in the right distance lead up from the ground to the second story of the wall, and a bell hangs in one of the several portholes cut through the wall's left side. A cross is situated on the small roof above these. To the extreme left, a cart with spoked wheels and a gazebo are partially visible. Straw is strewn on the ground in the right bottom hand corner of the image.
