San Fernando Valley State College is now California State University Northridge. Photograph caption dated June 13, 1959 reads Gathering for graduation. More than 300 persons gathered for first annual commencement exercises of Valley State College. During ceremony, 315 bachelor degrees and 101 master degrees were presented. Also on program was tribute paid to Dr. Delmar T. Oviatt, founding father of Valley State College. Dr. Oviatt is dean of instruction at college.
