Photograph article dated February 17, 1964 partially reads, "The old tale about the all brawn, no brain boy who got through college on his muscle power just isn't so anymore. In fact, Mel Swift, 39, of Sherman Oaks, claims it really never was true at his old alma mater, Stanford. And he knows from experience, past and present. Swift, an attorney, is this year's president of the Stanford Alumni Association... Among his duties is to help recruit new students. Each year a list of the outstanding scholars in each area is compiled... Three examples advanced by Swift are Hollis Moore, captain of the basketball team, a North Hollywood youth; Joel Shulman, of Van Nuys, captain of the baseball team; and certainly not to be forgotten Reseda's Terry Docken, the all city baseball pitcher, who decided on Stanford for his academic home." Photograph caption reads, "Mel Swift talks with Hollis Moore, North Hollywood student who is co-captain of Stanford basketball team."
