Description
Shown is the "Citizens in Action" booklet for the Community Welfare Council of the Greater Sacramento Area, produced in 1952. The Community Welfare Council served Sacramento, California, as the planning agency for the city. Their aim was to address homelessness, disease, and starvation of community members. The Citizens in Action contains a report of one year's activities. It discusses cooperative planning and an analysis of how to meet the needs of Sacramentans that experience poverty. Using democratic procedure, the volunteers of the council focus on community-wide problems through their committees and projects.
