Description
A Rarámuri or Tarahumara indigenous man places his hand on a pillar as he waits for the train in Cuidad Juarez which will take him to Chihuahua, where he will transfer to the Chihuahua-Pacifico train. The Tarahumara are a group of indigenous people living in the state of Chihuahua in Mexico. They are legendary for their long-distance running ability. The 80's was considered the "lost decade" because of Mexico's debt crisis. This was due to the falling oil prices that left Mexico without foreign currencies to pay off its $80 billion debt. This in effect, increased high levels of unemployement, especially in rural areas.
