Charles Herbert Wilson (1917-1984) served as a member of the California State Assembly from the 66th District from 1954-1962, and was elected to the United States House of Representatives where he served from 1963-1981. In June of 1980, Wilson was censured by the House of Representatives for financial misconduct. And later that same year, he was defeated in the Democratic primery election nomination to the 97th Congress by Mervyn M. Dymally. Wilson died on July 21, 1984 and is burried at Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, California. Jesse Marvin Unruh (1922-1987) served as the 54th Speaker of the California State Assembly from the 65th District from 1961-1969, and served as delegate to Democratic National Convention from California in 1960 and again in 1968. Unruh left the legislature in 1970 when he ran for Governor, which he lost to Ronald Reagan. In 1973 he was a candidate for Mayor of Los Angeles, which he also lost, to Samuel W. Yorty. Unruh was elected State Treasurer in 1974, and served from 1975 until his death from prostate cancer on August 4, 1987. He is buried in Santa Monica, California. Several protesters can be seen picketing in front of the Legislative offices of Jesse M. Unruh, Assemblyman 65th District and Charles H. Wilson, Congressman 31st District, located at 1902 St. Andrews Place. Some picket signs read: "Wilson: use your own stamps", "Wilson: Don't be so proud of your record", "We want honesty not travesty", "Californians protest. Wilson uses tax money to campaign", etc. It appears that the picketing is against Congressman Charlie Wilson, as Assemblyman Jesse Unruh's name does not appear on any of the signs pictured.
