Photograph was edited for publication purposes; Title supplied by cataloger. Photograph article dated February 28, 1963 reads, "Time dragged for 8-year-old Kevin McCall, a pediatric patient at the Encino Hospital for several weeks. He didn't understand all the tests, the X-rays, the probing and the long times between visiting hours. Then surgery, and more weeks. But hospital life for Kevin brightened considerably the other day when Encino's honorary sheriff dropped in for a brief visit. It was Robert Culp, star of 'Trackdown' and Kevin's favorite TV cowboy. The drop-in visit became a half-hour man-to-man talk, with the excited little boy even getting to handle Culp's heavy but empty six-shooter. Culp, father of three sons himself, presented Kevin with the hospital's very first Badge of courage and a certificate of membership in the Badge of Courage Club, a new planned program of morale boosting for the young patients at Encino Hospital. Some day soon Kevin McCall will go home, wearing pajamas, decorated with the No. 1 Badge of courage."
