Clark Company, founded in Cleveland in 1902 by the English-born bookseller whose name the company bore, relocated its 100,000-title book stock and publishing operation to Glendale in 1930. The presence of the Arthur H. Clark Company strengthened and consolidated the book culture of greater Los Angeles, and their published books, including frontier-related books, as well as hundreds of other significant monographs and annotated translations and reprints, set national standards for the publishing industry.
