View from the corner of Market and San Carlos Streets looking northwest across San Carlos Street toward the Civic Auditorium and Montgomery Theater. Several automobiles are parked in the street. The 3,300 seat auditorium is to the left of the tower and has a flagpole projecting from the roof. It was opened in 1936 with funding help from the Works Project Administration. The 545-seat Montgomery Theater is the part of the building on the right next to a palm tree. The theater was named after local developer T.S. Montgomery who donated the land for the auditorium and theater.
