Description: View of El Palo Alto, the Tall Tree located off Alma Street by the Southern Pacific tracks and San Francisquito Creek. It lent its name to the City of Palo Alto. El Palo Alto is a redwood tree thought to be over 1000 years old.

Master images scanned at 300 dpi and scaled to 6000 pixels on the longest side. Bit depth: grayscale at 8-bit; color at 24-bit. Images compressed to 800 pixels across the long dimension and to JPEG format. Scanning outsourced to Luna Imaging Inc. as part of an LSTA Grant funded by the California State Library in 2003-2004. Scanning hardware is unknown.
