Description
Scope/Content: California Senator Alan Cranston (left), pharmacist William Bacon, PharmD, Alumni of UCSF School of Pharmacy (center), and Vincent Angell, BS, president of the UCSF Alumni Association, at award ceremonies during which Senator Cranston received the second Troy C. Daniels Medal. Senator Cranston was awarded the medal by the UCSF School of Pharmacy in honor of his extraordinary service to the profession of pharmacy.
The medal was presented at a dinner in Senator Cranston's honor on Thursday, January 9, 1986, at the Hyatt on Union Square in San Francisco. The dinner immediately preceded the annual meeting of the California Pharmacists Association.
Senator Cranston was selected because of his support of the development of clinical pharmacy education nationwide. This training has enabled pharmacists to become more directly involved in the drug therapy of patients in hospitals, outpatient clinics and community pharmacies. Bacon was chairman of the award selection committee.
