Description
Photograph was edited for publication purposes
Jungleland was a zoo and amusement park, well known for providing wild animals for Hollywood movies and television. It was originally founded as Goebel's Lion Farm in Thousand Oaks in 1926, the name changed to World Jungle Compound in 1929 and to Jungleland in 1955. It closed in 1969.
Photograph caption dated June 9, 1956 reads "Frame-up. Little Chim, member of chimpanzee family and one of nature's natural comedians, decided that his picture would look better framed. So, he picked up empty frame before camera shutter was snapped. Little Chim rides tricycles, scooters, stands on his hands and even does a smooth Hawaiian dance."; See images #00125723 through #00125729 for all photos in this series.
