East Los Angeles (also called East L.A. or East Los) is an unincorporated area in Los Angeles County, forming part of the East Los Angeles Region. Some notable residents calling East L.A. home have included: (Actors) Edward James Olmos, Constance Marie, (Musicians) Kid Frost, Taboo; (Boxers) Oscar de la Hoya, Sergio Mora; (Author) Maria Helena Viramontes; (Politician) Lucille Roybal-Allard; and (Teacher) Jaime Escalante, to name but a few. East L.A. has grown considerably through the years; in 1960, population was approximately 104,270 and by 2006, it had increased to 127,442.
