Photograph caption dated May 9, 1962 reads, "Roscoe W. Blanchard, center, 79-year-old father of Valley Councilman C. Lemoine Blanchard, left, took the play away from his son at the Los Angeles City Council Chambers Tuesday. The elder Blanchard was the surprised recipient of a council resolution honoring his 51 years as a Valley lumber merchant. The resolution was introduced by another Valley councilman, Everett G. Burkhalter, right. One of Blanchard's lumber yards, 5361 Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood, is still in operation. A group of Blanchard's North Hollywood friends attended yesterday's meeting to congratulate him."
