Description
"Disposal Gardens" dumpsite is dedicated by Henry C. Soto (extreme right), truckers and co-managers at the recent opening of the public dump. So effective was the landscaping of the dump area that a huge sign had to be erected to convince truckers it was truly a dump site. "Disposal Gardens", the first landscaped dump site in the United States, is located in San Pedro on Vermont Avenue between Highway 101 and Anaheim Street. Photo dated: July 21, 1965.
