Century Freeway, also known as the I-105, derives its name from nearby Century Boulevard, which parallels its route. The freeway, which opened in 1993, begins at Sepulveda Boulevard and proceeds eastward, crossing the L.A. and San Gabriel Rivers before ending just east of the San Gabriel Freeway (I-605) in the city of Norwalk. Built in the early 1950s to early 60s, the Harbor Freeway, or I-110, is one of the princial north-south freeways in L.A. County. It runs from Gaffey Street in San Pedro to the Santa Monica Freeway south of Downtown L.A. Also, the harbor Freeway, along with the Long Beach Freeway, is a principal means for freight to get from the port of L.A. to rail yards and warehouses further inland. Seen here is the 7-story multi-level interchange of the eastbound Century Freeway and the northbound Harbor Freeway, located near Watts. From these lanes, splendid views of the entire Los Angeles Basin and the San Gabriel Mountains can be seen, weather permitting.
