Description
Contains two films pertaining to railroad excursion trips. The first is a trip on a regularly scheduled Virginia & Truckee mixed-train pulled by Engine No. 27, from Reno to Minden on May 30, 1950. Shots include loading mail and express in Reno, the Carson City depot, and switching freight cars in Minden. The second is a Railway & Locomotive Historical Society fan-trip excursion dated April 15, 1951 on the Southern Pacific from San Francisco to Calistoga using the US-Army steam ferry “General Frank M. Coxe” for the trip across the bay. Scenes include those taken from the ferry of San Francisco Bay, and shots of various locations on the trip to Calistoga. Written on container/reel: WSF 200/57; Guido; Reno to Minden 100 feet; boat and train ride B + W 100 feet.
