Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Evertsen Adobe in San Gabriel, shrouded by tree foliage, 1960. The squat, lightly-colored adobe is pictured from a distance at center, its central section jacketed in wood and paint peeling off of one of its double-doors. To the right, more houses can be seen in the background behind two tall palm trees. To the right, a large third tree stands and dangles its branches in front of much of the adobe. The adobe was built in 1850 by John R. Evertsen, who was charged with taking the first U.S. Census of the City and County of Los Angeles.
