Isaak Izrailevich Brodskii, 1884-1939. Painter and graphic artist. Born in Sofievka, Ukraine, 6.I.1884 [25.XII.1883, O.S.] died in Leningrad, 14.VIII.1939. [Biography (English)] Monogram description in Cyrillic TO ADD [Monogram description (Cyrillic)] Monograms, Isaak Izrailevich Brodskii (Jan. 6, 1884 or Dec. 25 1883, OS – Aug. 14,1939 ). The monograms are taken from the journal Plamia (Blaze), 1905. [Monogram description (English)] studied at the Odessa art school (1896-1902) and at the Academy of Arts (1902-1908) under G. G. Miasoedov, Ia. F. Tsionglinskii, and I. E. Repin before 1917, Brodskii was associated with the Neo-Realist movement and was a member of the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia (AKhRR) after the Revolution, Brodskii became the founding father of Socialist Realism, famous for portraits of Lenin, Stalin and other Soviet leaders and for depictions of the Civil War and Revolution of 1917 he was the first artist to be awarded the Order of Lenin. Ционглинского и И. Е. Репина. До 1917 г. Бродский считался неореалистом и был членом Ассоциации Художников Революционной России (АХРР). После революции 1917 г. Бродский был одним из основателей социалистического реализма в искусстве. Он стал известен и как портретист вождей СССР (в том числе Ленина и Сталина), и как художник, отображавший события гражданской войны и революции.
