This is question and answer session with Peter Drucker and Doug Hill for the Edward Jones firm. Drucker discusses maintaining core values during expansion, changing demographics, the creation of the financial services industry, and the differences between fee-based business and commission based business. Drucker notes that while transaction business is more profitable in the short term, he sees the growth of the firm in fee business long term. This is because for every active customer with Edward Jones, there are six to seven ex-customers who cannot be active in the transaction business because investment representatives do not have the time to pursue them.
