The library was funded by a $7,500 grant from Andrew Carnegie. The original architect, W. E. Kleinpell, designed this Spanish style building, which opened in 1915. It served the Eagle Rock Public Library from 1915-1923, then as a branch of the Los Angeles Public Library from 1923 to 1981 (now located at 5027 Caspar Avenue). Around the time this photo was taken, the building underwent an extensive remodel designed by Newton & Murray. Its current use is as the Eagle Rock Community Cultural Center. Exterior view of Eagle Rock Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library, located at 2225 Colorado Boulevard.
