Douglas fir timbers. The view shows timbers used in a lumber shed of a sugar pine lumber company at Pinedale, California. The shed was built about 1922, and soon thereafter the timbers showed a tendency to twist. The joints are mortise and tenon and wooden pins were used for fastenings. The picture shows two horizontal members badly twisted. Both are boxed hearts. See also #4074. March 1929, E.F
