J. W. Arthur, official at Angelus Temple, as he waited to be called to the stand in the preliminary hearing of Aimee Semple McPherson. In 1929 he was a witness in the Judge Hardy trial and was asked regarding a page in a temple ledger labeled "legal and defense" on which a $2500 check to Judge Hardy was recorded.
