Description
Photograph of a view of the mouth of Santa Monica Canyon, ca.1906. The wide canyon is at center and its opening is at right. A railroad runs across the mouth of the canyon on an elevated ridge. There are several buildings on the flat plain in the middle of the canyon, including a large, two-story building with a flat roof at center, and a two-story house in the distance at center. A large crowd of people is gathered around a building at right, and an early-model automobile can be seen nearby. The bottom of the canyon has been cleared of brush, perhaps in anticipation of construction There is a tall ridge forming the wall of the canyon in the background, and several buildings can be seen on top.
