A view of a strip of five buildings on a street, looking from the right toward the left; cars are parked along the street looking into the photograph; first building on the right is a partial building of three stories; next to it is a white building of two stories; the second floor of the white building has a balcony; perpendicular to the building is a sign "Republic Chop Suey" and on the first floor are written twice on the white building "921 Chinese Public Restaurant"; next to it on left is a brick two story building and next to it perhaps an alleyway; on other side of alleyway a wooden two story building with an overhanging balcony on the second floor; at end of street a tall vertical sign stands behind.
Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento.
"East side of the street. One of the remaining complete Chinese blocks in Sacramento."
