Description
Photographic portrait of a stage coach driver in front of his coach, California, ca.1880-1890. A stout man stands at center wearing a western hat and long coat, with his pants hoisted high on his waist and tucked into his laceless knee-high boots. Leather driver's gloves are visible on his hands. Behind him, the stagecoach can be partially seen, its canvas door-flap up over the top of the cabin. The large, spoked, rear wheel is nearly as tall as the driver.
