Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Mission San Carlos before restoration, ca.1875. The remains of an adobe wall are visible to the far right, its doorway still vislbe. Farther in, a white picket-fence can be seen marking the path to the mission's chapel entrance. The building appears to be dirty but retains much of its spackle, its second story showing two belltowers, one to the left large and ornate, topped by a dome. The second is noticeably smaller and flat-roofed. Farther left, the deteriorating roof of the rest of the chapel is visible sloping in down the hill beneath it.
