Photograph caption dated June 5, 1961 reads, "Earl Young, crack [sic] quartermiler for Abilene Christian College, who was one of the stars of the Compton Invitational last week, will be running this weekend at Houston, Tex., in the 'Meet of Champions.' Young, former San Fernando High athlete, also will be seen in the NCAA at Philadelphia the following week."
