Description
Police stand on alert as 500 Negroes mass at San Pedro Street and Manchester Avenue during new disorders in the Watts area. Some members of the crowd hurled bottles and bricks at passing cars, including police cars. Lighted flares were tossed on rooftops and piles of rubble set afire in a two-block area. No major fire resulted. Photo dated: May 18, 1966.
