Beginning in June 1914 and finishing in Oct. 1915, the Van Sant-Houghton Company worked on construction of U.S. post office. Views document construction and identifies nearby buildings.
View 1 (2008-1284). June 1, 1914. Shows grading of lot and placement of supports for building. Also visible are YMCA and old Skating Rink which later became Gleason 2nd hand store and then storage for Gazette -- view 2 (2008-1285). July 1, 1914. Shows building site, east to west. Includes graded lot, equipment, beginnings of foundation walls. Visible across from lot is Home Telephone Company (P.G & E building), old Salzberger home and part of City Hall -- view 3 (2008-1286). Aug. 1, 1914. Shows building site, south to north. Shows foundation walls, equipment (wheelbarrows, ramps). Visible is YMCA and skating rink -- view 4 (2008-1287). Aug. 1, 1914. View of east to west.
