Engraving containing three images: 1. Leucurcuta (or Leucrocuta) a mythical creature the size of a donkey, with features of a stag and a lion, with cloven hooves. 2. Leo minor (or lion), in the background a man on horseback hunts the lion. 3. Martigora (or manticor), a mytical creature with the body and four legs of a lion, the head of a man, and the tail of a scorpion or dragon. Scanned from plate LVII (i.e. 57) in Joannes Jonstonus' Histoirae naturalis de quadrupetibus, published in Frankfurt am Main by the Heirs of Matthaeus Merian in 1650.
