Photograph was edited for publication purposes. Holy Cross Hospital was founded by the Sisters of Holy Cross and was originally slated to be built in Panorama City. It was eventually built at 15031 Rinaldi Street in Mission Hills and opened in 1961. In 1996 the Sisters of Providence acquired the hospital and renamed it Providence Holy Cross Medical Center. Photograph caption dated March 31, 1961 reads "From the looks on the faces of Mr. Charles J. Lyons Jr., right, chairman of Holy Cross Hospital's Gift Shop, and Mrs. Peter Schnetzler, vice chairman, June will be here too soon. June is when the hospital will open, and the gift shop, too. 'We hope,' the ladies sighed, as they survey the shelf-less, sans fixtures room."
