A hallway at the Casa Natal del General Santander (Birth House of General Santander), which is located in Villa del Rosario, a municipality that is part of the Cúcuta Metropolitan Area, which borders Venezuela.. The home is beautifully decorated with flowers, trees, and elaborate brick and stone walkways. General Francisco de Paula Santander, 1792-1840, was a Colombian politician and military officer. He was born in Villa del Rosario to a Creole family and lived at this house for the first 13 years of his life. During his studies at the College of San Bartolomé, he joined the independence movement, eventually rising to the rank of general and fighting alongside Simón Bolívar. The house now serves as a museum that displays his personal effects, local history, and a statue of him. He is considered a hero of Colombia's independence. Uno de los pasillos de la Casa Natal del General Santander, la cual a su vez está localizada en Villa del Rosario, un municipio que forma parte de la área metropolitana de Cúcuta y hace frontera con Venezuela.
