Dr. Tebbetts practiced general medicine in Whittier and was a member of the original staff when Murphy Memorial Hospital opened in 1921. Dr. Walker joined the staff in 1930 practicing general medicine and anesthesiology. Mrs. Reed was on the nursing staff when it opened and stayed until 1954. Miss Russell began nursing there in 1927 and remained until 1955. They discuss the history of the hospital, additions and renovations to the original building, other staff members and various procedures. They mention some of the major emergencies they dealt with including oil well accidents, an explosion at the Leffingwell Chemical Co. and the collapse of a railroad bridge at the Pellissier Ranch.
