Photograph caption dated October 11, 1950 reads, "Flames licking over hillside just south of Ventura Blvd. in Encino eat perilously close to home of Phillip Savage at 17931 Karen Dr. Fire blackened more than 20 acres between Selzah [sic] and White Oak Aves."
