Description: Everybody in Whittier wanted to shake the hand of the Republican vice presidential nominee (arrow) on July 28, 1952. Here is a part of the tumultuous throng crowding in on Richard Nixon and his pretty wife, Pat. A 40-car cavalcade, a mounted color guard, a band and units of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion formed a parade.
