Description
In the 1930s, Wayne McAllister, the originator of the circular drive-in, designed circular Simon's Drive-in Restaurants in the Streamline Moderne style with a three-layer roof and neon advertising pylon; this style was copied throughout the country.
Simon's, located at 5171 Wilshire Boulevard, is well lit for outside drive-up customers. Cars are parked all around the round-shaped restaurant. The marquee advertises sandwiches, hamburgers, barbecue, and fountain, and signs with prices for food items are hung in a line all across the windowtops.
